WARNING: We have been informed that the properties in the cities which are grayed out in the table below are no longer functional due to wind damage and flooding. Properties to the WEST of Gonzales along I-10 are, for the most part, functional but expect there to be no vacancies. Also the properties along I-55 north of I-12 are mostly functional but, again, vacancies are a problem.

We recommend northern Alabama, northern Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina as the nearest areas for haven until you can return to your home areas. For those of you who can travel further from the Gulf Coast, properties in southern Illinois, Indiana and Ohio are generally less expensive than elsewhere. Of course, there are always 'opportunists' who are more than ready to take advantage of others' misfortune.
